4th-Grade Field trip to the Arizona State Capital on Monday, May 13, 2019
This week the all the 4th-grade class students will be taking a field trip to visit the Arizona State Museum in Phoenix.
Naturally Reading Story Titles Focus:
Selected titles will be chosen by the classroom teacher for each reading focus group of students.
Writing Focus:
We will continue developing our Weekly Personal Journaling skills and the strategies the students need for essay brainstorming, paragraph development, formatting, editing, and final presentations. We will be reviewing how to write Informative essays about their field trip experiences.
We will continue to focus on building a correct sentence, paragraph and essay writing skills. We will examine the various word types, functions, and strategize how to properly make the correct word selections for our writing applications each week.
Oral Presentation Focus:
This week the students will continue practicing their "Oral Presentation" skills in front of the whole class. Students will share their daily journal responses in their "Think-Pair-Share" small groups, and then their thoughts and writings in front of the whole class.
Social Studies Focus:
We will finish up any late Social studies presentations for partial credit and further discuss our states unique history.

We are using the Read Naturally Curriculum in conjunction with the Journey's Reading Curriculum for our class studies.
This week's Spelling word focus.
This week the students will be receiving 25 words which they will test on this Wednesday in class for their spelling grade. Please ask the students to show you the Spelling words they were given on Monday.

4th-grade Arizona Merit testing for Reding and Math is this week. Reading AZ Merit testing will be April 23, 2019, and Math AZ Merit testing will be April 24, 2019. Both of these tests will be in the mornings from 8-11 AM.

Wow- what a strange week our students had here at BUSD. Monday was a no school day as we celebrated "Presidents Day" and Thursday we did not have school because of the snow storm that caused us to have a no school "Snow Day" for the safety of our students. As a result of this shortened school week, we will revisit the lessons and spelling words that we did not finish last week.

This week is the 1st week of the 3rd quarter and the start of the 2nd Semester of the School Year 2018-2019.
This week's students grades will be posted on the Bagdad Elementary school's PowerSchool Website on Monday, January 14, 2019.
This week's Reading Curriculum focus.
We are using the Read Naturally Curriculum in conjunction with the Journey's Reading Curriculum for our class studies.
This week's Spelling word focus.
This week the students will be receiving 25 words which they will test on this Thursday in class for their spelling grade.
These spelling words are the first part of spelling words that are recommended for students who would like to participate in our school Spelling Bee contest. The In-class "Spelling Bee" Contest will be scheduled for the third week of January. More details will be shared in the future.
Naturally Reading Story Titles Focus:
Selected titles will be chosen by the classroom teacher for each reading focus group of students.
Writing Focus:
We will continue developing our Personal Journaling skills and the strategies the students need for essay brainstorming, paragraph development, formatting, editing, and final presentations of Informative, Expositive and Opinion Essays.
We will continue to focus on building correct sentence and paragraph structures. We will look at the various word types, functions, and strategize how to properly make the correct word selections for our writing applications.
Social Studies Focus:
We will introduce our second Major presentation project. This projects presentation will be due before the end of the 3rd quarter. Please look for the project guidelines and the grading Rubric that will be sent home with your students.

About Subtitle
This week is the last week of our 2nd quarter. The quarters and semester grades for the students will be posted on the Bagdad Elementary school's PowerSchool Website on December 21, 2018.
Parents will be receiving their student's report cards in the Mail from the Elementary School Office.
This week's Spelling word focus.
This week the students will be reviewing spelling words that we will not be testing in class for a grade. Instead, the list of spelling words they have received will be the list of spelling words that are recommended for students who want to participate in our school spelling Bee contest that will be held in January 2019. More details will be shared after we return back to school on January 7, 2019.

Writing Focus:
Personal Journals and Idea entry starters will continue to be discussed with the students this week.
Social Studies Focus:
This is the last week for the students to present their "Book in the Box" presentations. The final grade for this project will be posted on December 20, 2018.

This week is the 9th and last grading week of our 2nd quarter. All work must be turned in for grading by Thursday for this quarters grades. The Social Studies un-presented reports will still have next week to be presented to the class.
